I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing psychotherapy and educational workshops for individual and couples in Albuquerque, NM. I completed my doctorate in clinical psychology with an emphasis in health psychology at Syracuse University in New York and my internship at the Albuquerque Veterans Hospital and University of New Mexico Hospital. I completed a post-doctoral fellowship, specializing in treatment of substance use disorders, at The Mind Research Network. In 2011, I started working as a clinician in private practice. I am also co-host of a podcast: Psychologists Off the Clock.
I work with adolescents and adults facing a variety of concerns including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, health behaviors, and substance use problems. I also provide interpersonal and emotion focused therapy for individuals and couples, which can be helpful for individuals or couples who want to improve the health and quality of their relationships. I will work in collaboration with you to define the problem areas to be worked on and to support you in making the changes you want to make. Therapy can be a life-altering process as you gain new insights, shift how you perceive and deal with difficult emotions and situations, clarify what you want to create in your life, and take steps to manifest your goals.
I also offer psychotherapy focusing on topics related to reproductive health. Reproductive health experiences are powerful and momentous in a woman’s life. I work with women in navigating and integrating experiences involved in preconception, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, infertility, postpartum, and motherhood. From a perspective that our thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences are connected in meaningful ways, you will be supported to develop knowledge and tools to manage the emotional ups and downs inherent to this path, develop self-compassion and healthy behaviors that support your goals, and ultimately to trust in your self and build a life you love.
In tailoring therapy to address your unique concerns and goals, I integrate techniques from cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), functional analytic psychotherapy (FAP), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and dialectic behavior therapy (DBT). My clients and colleagues tell me I am warm, funny and direct. If you ask me a question about our work – how or why we are working in a specific way – I will give you clear, and hopefully useful, answers.
